Dorothea Rosa Herliany is a poet, a prose author, journalist and an organizer of events, where writers, scientists and artists are discussing important contemporary themes. Since 10 years she manages “Dunia Tera”, an art and book facility in Wanurejo, a small village in Central Java. Herliany has published more than 20 volumes of prose and poetry. Inside and outside Indonesia her writing has been widely honoured, receiving numerous awards. She has served as Writer in Residence in Australia and lived in Germany for four months on a fellowship from the Heinrich Böll Foundation. This year Dorothea Rosa Herliany will start her long term scholarship at DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program. Currently she is working on a novel about the people of Papua and their endangered culture.
